Meet Ellen

I know that leaving your pets and home in someone else's care can be one of the hardest parts of going away. That's why my goal is simple - to provide the same level of advanced care, attention, and compassion that I would expect for my own animals, giving you complete peace of mind while you're away.

Animals have always been at the centre of my life, shaping both my education and career. From caring for family pets as a child to working professionally with native wildlife, domestic animals, and on conservation projects. I've built my career around understanding, protecting, and caring for animals of all kinds.

I now offer a boutique in-home pet and house sitting service for people who want more than basic pet care. I provide professional, compassionate, and personalised care for your animals and home, giving you confidence that everything is being looked after by someone with genuine experience in animal health, behaviour, and welfare.

Knowledge, Experience & Compassion

I believe exceptional pet care is about much more than feeding, exercising, and checking in on an animal. It's about understanding their behaviour, maintaining their routine, recognising when something isn't quite right, and ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and secure in the familiarity of their own home while you're away.

Holding a Diploma of Animal Ecology, my understanding of animals extends well beyond basic pet care. My studies incorporated animal behaviour, biology and physiology, health, welfare, conservation, and the complex relationships between animals and their environments. This education provided a strong foundation in animal observation, husbandry, health monitoring, safe handling, and understanding how animals communicate and respond to their surroundings.

My professional experience has further strengthened these skills through roles as an Eco Ranger on K'gari (Fraser Island), a Fauna Spotter Catcher and Environmental Consultant, and a licensed Snake Catcher and Animal Handler. Alongside this, I have volunteered extensively in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, caring for injured and orphaned native wildlife while working alongside other experienced wildlife carers and veterinarians.

My passion for animals also extends to horses. Through volunteering with Riding for the Disabled Association Hervey Bay, I gained extensive hands-on experience in horse handling, grooming, feeding, health monitoring, and daily care before beginning my own journey into horse ownership. I have also personally rehabilitated my own horse following a serious injury, working closely with veterinary professionals throughout the recovery process.

These experiences have given me practical knowledge of animal health, behaviour, welfare, and rehabilitation, along with the importance of recognising subtle changes that may indicate illness, injury, stress, or discomfort. While I am not a veterinarian, I understand how valuable early recognition can be and when veterinary attention may be needed. Careful observation, patience, and consistency are qualities I bring to every animal I look after.

Having worked with animals of all sizes, temperaments, and behaviours—from domestic pets to native wildlife—I understand that every animal is unique. My extensive and diverse experience allows me to confidently care for animals with specialised needs—something many general pet sitters cannot offer. I tailor my care to each pet's individual personality, routine, and needs, ensuring they receive the same level of attention, patience, and respect that I would expect for my own animals.

I know that pets are cherished members of the family. Whether you're away for a weekend, an extended holiday, or travelling for work, you can enjoy complete peace of mind knowing your pets and home are in experienced, capable, and compassionate hands.
